Here is more about Brooks Reitz and his restaurant, Jack Rudy Cocktail Co.

Brooks Reitz is a restaurateur, designer, and entrepreneur based in Charleston, SC. Born and raised in western Kentucky, his first experience in the restaurant business was as a busboy at his local country club. Following graduation from Transylvania University, he found employ at the original 21C Museum Hotel in Louisville, KY, leaving four years later as the general manager of their restaurant, Proof, and bound for the Lowcountry. In Charleston, Brooks sought out James Beard winner Chef Mike Lata and joined his front-ofhouse team at FIG. He rose quickly to general manager and moved on to help the group open The Ordinary as general manager, leading a team recognized as a finalist for the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant. Inspired by his experience behind the bar, Brooks began tinkering with cocktail ingredients in his free time, creating a tonic syrup that he bottled and sold under the name Jack Rudy Cocktail Co., an ode to his grandfather. Brooks left The Ordinary in 2014 to open his first restaurant, Leon’s Oyster Shop. It was quickly recognized as a Charleston “must,” earning recognition as EATER’s Best New Restaurants in America, Bon Appetit’s 50 Best New Restaurants in America, and a James Beard semifinal nod for Rising Star Chef. Leon’s was followed by Little Jack’s Tavern, which was also recognized by Bon Appetit as one of 50 Best New Restaurants in America - and soon after, being lauded by that same publication as having the Best Burger in America. Brooks’ third concept, Melfi’s, opened in 2018. A classic Italian restaurant inspired by the neighborhood trattorias of Italy, it too has received numerous accolades and praise since opening its doors. In tandem with opening restaurants, Brooks has helmed Jack Rudy with his cousin and business partner, Taylor Huber, dreaming up new products inspired by long-forgotten staples of the American bar. Ten years later, Jack Rudy Cocktail Co.’s line includes non-alcoholic cocktail mixers, bar tools and pantry essentials, all of which are produced in the USA and sold worldwide.
