Name: An Introduction to Recovery Mind Training
Date: December 6, 2019
Time: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM CST
Event Description:

RecoveryMind Training is a way of understanding addiction that is steeped in science and at the same time respectful of the human condition. Addiction is a brain disease that produces wholesale changes in drives, intent, self-control, learning memory and even one’s world view. RecoveryMind Training combines the latest brain science with effective psychotherapy techniques and twelve-step philosophy. This information is collected into a cohesive treatment system with clear, measurable and realizable goals.

This workshop will describe the major ways that addiction subverts normal human feelings, thoughts and behaviors to its own ends. The didactic portion of the workshop will describe the specific brain centers involved in hijacking the brain, mapping each to the characteristic symptoms that physicians, psychologists and therapists see every day.

Didactic presentations will be interspersed with live experiential demonstrations that depict how this knowledge naturally translates into interventions that, taken as a whole, create a unique treatment model for wholesale recovery. Portions of the workshop will provide an overview of this comprehensive, patient-centered treatment model that can be used at every level of care, from residential programs, to intensive outpatient treatment, down the line to the individual therapist’s office.
